Community Health Worker

The Nevada Systems of Higher Education received a grant from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) in 2014 to develop a pilot Community Health Worker (CHW) curriculum. This was done in partnership with the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) and Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). In December of 2014, both entities graduated a total of 39 new CHWs into the workforce. Both entities still run the curriculum on an "as-needed" basis. Students who graduate the programs receive a certificate of completion. A hybrid (online, in-person) training is coming soon provided by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health and the Community Health Worker Program.
