Nevada Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) Overview

The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Section partners with the Access to Healthcare Network (AHN) to administer the Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP). CRCCP is a colorectal cancer early detection program dedicated to serving low-income, high-risk, uninsured/underinsured men and women aged 50 - 64 living in Nevada. The goal of the CRCCP is to reduce the burden of colorectal cancer through education, early screening and diagnostics, care coordination/case management, and improved accessibility to treatment. The funding also supports health systems change, data collection and surveillance, public education, outreach, provider education, and evaluation activities to measure the clinical outcomes, costs, and effectiveness of the program. CRCCP is 100% federally funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Program Eligibilty

You may be eligible for the program if you meet the following criteria:

• Men and Women aged 50 - 64
• At or below 250% of the federal poverty rate
• Uninsured or underinsured

Program Services

• Fecal immunochemical test (FIT) done at home every year. A FIT is a simple at-home test that can detect blood in the stool, a possible sign of cancer;
• Colonoscopy recommended every 10 years. A colonoscopy can detect cancer early in the entire colon, and it can find precancerous polyps that can be removed before they turn into cancer.
• Care coordination/case management services ensure that CRCCP clients receive timely and appropriate screening and diagnostic testing.
