Psychiatric Advance Directive
In 2017, Nevada passed a law allowing individuals with mental illness to develop a psychiatric advance directive.
A psychiatric advance directive allows individuals with mental illness to advocate for their own care. Filing this form allows individuals to direct how their psychiatric care is to be provided in the event that they are incapable of making decisions concerning that care or are incapable of communicating such decisions.
Provided below are a sample form and a presentation from Dr. Stephanie Woodard about the form and its purpose.
