What is the Crisis Response System?
Nevada's Crisis Response System is a statewide effort to make sure that immediate, accessible support is available for all Nevadans when they have mental health or substance use emergencies. Staff at DPBH administer the 988 Lifeline and help community partners create and sustain programs that provide behavioral healthcare immediately, including crisis stabilization centers and mobile crisis teams.

When you reach out to 988, someone is ready and listening to help you feel better right now. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, qualified counselors at Nevada 988 are available through call, text and online chat.
988 prioritizes empathy and confidentiality in all of its interactions. Users can be connected to long-term resources and help that is local to their area, only when its wanted.

In collaboration with the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, NAMI Nevada hosts a statewide network of stakeholders in the Crisis Response System. This coalition exists to serve as a space to share issues, ideas and plans with the goal of fostering statewide cooperation and a unified Crisis Response System.

Under Nevada law, a $0.35 surcharge is collected each month on all phone numbers that have a Nevada area code. This funding can only be used to support crisis services in the state and must support the administration of Nevada 988.
This surcharge generates between $14,000,000 and $15,000,000 each year. To ensure the public remains informed, DPBH updates the fees collected each month on this webpage.
