Community-Based Mental Health Services

What are Community-Based Mental Health Services?

Community-based mental health services are any mental health services which are available in an individual's community - rather than being based in a specific institution, like a hospital. Mental health services funded by the Bureau of Behavioral Health, Wellness and Prevention aim to keep Nevadans within their own environment as they receive treatment whenever possible. This approach aims to bring a focus on the individual's specific mental health needs while they are living within their community, acknowledging that each person's needs are unique to them and the community they live in

How Do We Help?

The Bureau of Behavioral Health, Wellness and Prevention improves Nevadans' mental health by helping to stand up innovative, evidence-based mental health programs across the state. By providing grant funding for Nevada-based organizations, as well as technical assistance as the projects get off the ground, the Bureau aims to create more mental health infrastructure across Nevada. Our community partners focus on helping Nevadans with a wide variety of health issues by connecting them to the appropriate resources, preventing mental health issues from developing, treating early serious mental illness and first episode psychosis and more.
